SUNDANCE FILM
FESTIVAL 2020 PANEL

LGBTQ Representation:
Advocating for Greater Visibility in Hollywood

4:30PM - 5:30PM | Sunday, January 26, 2020

About Sundance Film Festival Panel:

Join TheWrap and The Latinx House for a conversation about empowering LGBTQ voices in Hollywood as the industry takes more notice of the role it plays in providing a platform for LGBTQ people in front of and behind the camera.

In years past, LGBTQ characters and storylines were often relegated to outdated stereotypes, almost always in the sidelines. But as the conversations (and yes, biases) around sexual orientation and gender identity have changed, so too has LGBTQ visibility in Hollywood.

Over the last several years, there’s been an exciting wave of representative characters and empowering storylines. Can we call it a trend? Will it last? How should film and series content spotlight ongoing, rampant discrimination?

And, beyond content depictions, where can Hollywood improve its own hiring and employment practices regarding sexual orientation and gender identity.
